Every dishwasher should understand the design of the dishwasher. If you need cleaning or repairs, this knowledge will help you. What are the components and parts of the dishwasher, what is the difference between one model from another? You will find answers to questions in our publication.
How is the dishwasher
All dishwashers inside consist of the same units and parts. The difference may be in additional functionality and the elements necessary for it.
PMM Bosch, Electrolux, Ariston, Siemens, Zanussi consist of the following basic parts:
- Engine. Serves to launch the nodes of the dishwasher.
- Circulation unit. It supplies water to the system and promotes its recirculation. Water passes through a circulation pump, from where it is supplied to the rocker arms and flies out from nozzles under pressure. The jets wash away the dirt from the dishes and flow into the filter, clean and again feed into the sprayers.
- A heating element. Flowing heater is part of the main unit. Water passes through the heater and instantly reaches the desired temperature.
- The drain pump pumps out waste water from the tank.
- The drain pipe and hose provide outflow to the sewer system.
- The intake hose or the Aquastop hose protects the equipment from leaks.
- The filter mesh at the inlet of the filler valve protects the system from blockages from the water supply (rust, small debris).
- Pressure switch (in some models - flow sensor). It determines the amount of water in the tank, then sends a signal to the control module.
- Safety device.
- Catchment basin.
- A tank for softening water and eliminating heavy impurities. It should be constantly replenished with special salt.
- The control unit with the electronic board is the “brain” of the dishwasher. Manages all nodes and processes in the machine.
- Wiring, hoses, clamps.
- Noise isolation.
Dishwasher layout
Dishwashers can be of various types: built-in, compact, freestanding. At the same time, the internal structure of the hopper does not change:
- The case is made of stainless steel.
- Inside, if you open the door, there are upper and lower sprinklers. There can be from one to four pieces.
- Containers for plates, compartments for forks, spoons, knives.
- Coarse and fine mesh drain filter.
- Compartment for salt.
- On the door there are compartments for detergents, tablets, capsules.
- Seal around the door perimeter.
- Control panel, which may include keys, display, indicators.
What is the difference between PMM
The above details are a standard component of any dishwasher. Depending on the brand of the manufacturer (Electrolux, Ariston, Bosch, Hansa), the technique can be supplemented with new functions and elements:
- Heat exchanger. Its work allows you to quickly dry dishes after a washing cycle. It is a water tank that gives off heat and saves energy.
- Additional heater, fan. Serve as the basis for turbo drying. The heater heats the air, and the fan accelerates it through the chamber. As a result, after a few minutes you take out the dry dishes.
- Turbidity sensor. Determines the purity of the water in the tank. Rinse the appliance until the water becomes clear. Therefore, the output plates are perfectly clean.
- Rinse aid and salt sensor. As soon as the funds are running out, the sensors will inform you about it, and you can replenish the supply on time.
- Sensor Dry. A new development is found in expensive PMM models. This is a sensor that scans the ambient temperature and adjusts it accordingly in the hopper.
- Capacity with zeolite. Another drying technology. Absorbing moisture, the mineral generates heat, which allows the instruments to dry. It is interesting that the shelf life of the mineral is long, it is enough for the entire duration of the dishwasher. At the same time, the equipment does not consume electricity.
- Water hardness sensor. The sensor readings serve as a signal for selecting the optimal washing program. Can only be found in expensive PMM.
- Ray on the floor. Convenient function for determining the end of a program. Depending on the type, it can be just a beam or an indication of the time until the end of the cycle (Bosch, Siemens).
- Separate dispenser for baking sheets and holder for glasses. Components can go along with the equipment (Indesit, Combustion) or purchased separately, as in the technique of Beko, Ariston.
In addition, the technique may differ in the material of parts and accessories. For example, baskets can be made of plastic and metal, their holders can be folding. Rockers are most often made of plastic, so you need to install plates carefully so as not to damage the part. In rare models, metal sprayers are found.
The principle of operation of the dishwasher
Briefly tell about those processes that occur after the launch of the PMM. Read more about how the dishwasher works in a separate article.
- After loading the dishes, bookmarking detergents and selecting a program, the machine starts the cycle.
- The main module sends a signal to the water intake valve.
- The pressure switch controls the required water level in the hopper and sends a signal about the end of the fence.
- If the PMM is connected to a cold water supply, then the flow passes through the heater, reaches the required temperature.
- The circulation pump supplies water to the rocker arms.
- Devices are washed through the nozzles of the jet.
Advice! When buying a car, look at the shape of the sprayer. It is better when the bar is curved, and the nozzles are located at different angles. In this case, the dishes will be washed more efficiently.
- Water drains into the pan, is cleaned by a filter, and then fed back to the spray gun.
- At the end of the washing, the spent liquid is pumped out by a pump and drained.
- The sampling cycle is repeated again and rinsing begins.
- Drying starts. The door opens slightly and cool air circulates through the chamber.
- A beep sounds at the end of the program or the beam flashes.
It remains to get the instruments and place them in their places.
If you understand the essence, then there is nothing complicated in the work and device design.
